MiTAC
Technology Corporation, founded in 1989, is one of the subsidiaries of MiTAC Synnex Group. It was a joint investment of MiTAC International Corporation and General Electronic Co., and is one of the few companies in Taiwan that has the capability to develop and manufacture rugged notebooks. In 1998, MiTAC International Corporation decided to spin off its own portable business units (notebooks) as part of a merger with MiTAC Technology Corporation for greater business scale and performance.

MiTAC Technology Corporation thereafter stepped into consumer and commercial notebook computer manufacturing and had become one of the few professional manufacturers of notebook computers with numerous well-known international customers. It successfully developed the world’s first notebook computer that adopted desktop Intel Pentium 4 processor. As the business has progressed, MiTAC Technology Corporation has become listed in Taiwan Stock Exchange in 2002 (stock ID: 3005), and its sales revenue exceed NT$38.2 billion in 2005, targeting to grow up to NT$100 billion in three years.

In 2004, as a result of product diversification, MiTAC Technology Corporation started to develop digital audio/video products and wireless communication products by utilizing its highly developed competences in hardware, software and mechanical capabilities as a notebook manufacturer. Its first hard disk based Mp3 were mass-produced in 2004, and WiMAX CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) product, ahead of competitors, was also launched in 2005. The successful launch of these products consolidated MiTAC’s core competitiveness to offer digital home entertainment solutions to customers. Based on the survey compiled by Commonwealth Magazine for the 1000 largest companies in Taiwan, MiTAC Technology Corporation ranked 8th in the computer system manufacturing sector, and it is expected that the new products will contribute great growing momentum to MiTAC to solidify its leading position in the industry.
